A habitat is the home of an animal or a plant. It is where the plant or animal gets food, shelter, protection. They can be large like oceans – the world’s largest habitat or small like nests and burrows. Almost every place on Earth—from the hot deserts to the cold ice packs are a habitat for some kinds of animals and plants. Most habitats include a community of animals and plants along with water, oxygen, soil or sand, and rocks.
