The Nature’s Gym programme for January-March 2016 is now available. We don’t start back until 16th January 2016, so you all have a long break to recover!  We look forward to seeing you all and welcoming new volunteers in the New Year.  There are some old favourites as well as a new site in this programme.

As a gentle reminder, for those that haven’t done so already, please fill out our feedback form and either post or email it back to Jess.  Alternatively you can hand it to Jess at a Nature’s Gym session.

Owen from the project says;

“With the support of the charity London Play we have submitted a project proposal titled, ‘Old Hands and Mud Pies’. The project is focused on engaging older people with volunteering opportunities and the chance to get involved with local activities and events in Deptford. The project will be centred at the Old Tidemill School and aims to engage people in learning and sharing skills as well as participating in fun and creative workshops and events. We are hosting an event at the school on November 16th do demonstrate some of the many fun things we do at the school and in the garden. We will be cooking up a tasty lunch, baking cakes and running activities. We have a new Treehouse to unveil and be tested out by local children as well as Forest School activities and creative art workshops. There will be chance to meet and chat to lot’s of other local people who are involved in the garden and the event will hopefully attract new people to come along to.

Your involvement in the event will be greatly appreciated and if successful, the funding we receive will help run regular events and activities for keen volunteers and local people for the whole of the coming year.”

November 16th 12pm – 4pm, at Old Tidemill School Wildlife Garden, Frankham Street, Deptford, SE8 4RN.

October Nature’s Gym Dates

Digging bramble can be tough work!

In a change to some listings that you may see, the first two Nature’s Gym sessions in October 2013, will be held at the following locations.

Thursday 3rd October – Old Tidemill School – Frankham Street, Deptford.

1. Train: Deptford, 2. DLR: Deptford Bridge, 3. Bus: Many inc. 47, 53, 177 & 453, 4. Parking: There is some parking on site.

Thursday 10th October – Hilly Fields (Vicars Hill) – BRAMBLE!  – This session is now fully booked.

1. Train: Ladywell then 5 mines walk uphill. 2 Bus: 484 on Vicar’s Hill. 284, 122, P4 Ladywell Village (Please note the buses are all on diversion, so check before you travel). There are also more parking restrictions on Vicars hill now, so you may find this more difficult.

Please note –

Due to circumstances out of our control, Judith will be running the session on 10th October on her own.  Therefore, due to our risk assessment and health and safety considerations, we have to limit the number of volunteers on this day to 10.  We are therefore asking that you book if you wish to attend this session.  Due to limited numbers we ask that you only book if you can make the full 3 hours and that you are happy to cut back brambles!   We apologise if this seems harsh, but it is not fair on those that can make the whole session and are willing to work hard to clear the bramble and who may miss out.

At Vicars Hill this can by difficult and tiring work!
