Pond, Trees, Steps and Meadows

The Nature’s Gym volunteers along with member of the Friends of Hither Green Triangle spent a wet but enjoyable few hours working in the nature reserve between platforms 4 and 5 of Hither Green Station.  It is important to keep an open mosaic of habitats in the site to benefit the wildlife on site and we have been working hard over the years to maintain this.

On this occasion we focused on the meadow near the entrance to the site and felling some trees around the pond. We took down a few Sycamores to allow more light to the pond, the branches and logs were stacked and will remain on site to create habitat piles.

It seems to be a feature of this site – it always rains (or is glorious sunshine, nothing in between) while we are there, but we always have a lot of fun and manage to get a lot of work done.
