Lewisham has the best parks in London

The annual Good Parks for London report “promotes and celebrates the amazing work that London Boroughs and other land managers to to maintain and develop London’s parks and greenspaces.  The aim of the report is to promote good practice, raise quality standards and help lobby to protect park budgets and resources. The report assesses how London borough parks services perform against the ten Good Parks criteria and showcases examples of good practice and case studies. ” (Good Parks for London.).

The criteria

The judging is based on 10 criteria

  1. Public satisfaction
  2. Awards for quality
  3. Collaboration
  4. Events
  5. Health, fitness and wellbeing
  6. Supporting nature
  7. Community involvement
  8. Skills development
  9. Sustainability
  10. Strategic planning

Lewisham did particularly well in the events section and were featured in the Good Parks for London 2021 report.

Good Parks for London 2021

This year the London Borough of Lewisham came out top which a a great testament to all of the hard work of Friends Groups, volunteers, Glendale and the Nature Conservation team put in over the last year. We are always grateful for all of this hard work and this award would not be possible without their help.

Good Parks for London 2018-2020

Lewisham has always done very well in the Good Parks for London report. In 2017 and 2018 we also topped the list of Boroughs. In 2019 with Havering just pipping us in to second spot by 0.5 points! In 2020 we came second only to Lambeth and by just 0.5 points! Here we are in 2021, back in the top spot!
