About the event
The Great North Wood was once a patchwork of wild woods and common ground that covered the low hills between Deptford and Croydon.
The woods have largely been swallowed up by the growth of south London, but the Great North Wood lives on in local names (such as Norwood and Honor Oak) and in surviving sections of woodland, which still stand as havens for wildlife and nature.
The Festival of the Great North Wood will be a celebration of the Wood’s vast history and wildlife with a chance to learn more about why it’s so special. Join a guided walk and find out about local birds, pond life, and butterflies. Witness a spectacular falconry display, a giant interactive bubble show, or get stuck into the games museum. There will be plenty of activities for all the family including face painting, crafts, and music.
The event is free to attend, and we look forward to seeing you there!
