Beckenham Place Park Events

Ordinarily, Beckenham Place Park would have been gearing up to our annual Flower show (which was due to take place on 19th July this year). And about 50 lovely volunteers would  have been preparing to take on a variety of roles on the busy day and in the days leading up to it. But of course this year is no ordinary year. It’s sad that we won’t be able to come together at this fun community event this year. However, you can still be involved and we can create a sense of celebration and community online instead. Join us online in celebrating park life and nature!

The online dog show starts this Monday (6th July)!

The following week we have the online flower show (w/c 13 July).

And on Sunday 19 July we have the online art show –

It would be wonderful to have your involvement in as many of the online features as possible. It is easy to take part!

We will post a category every other day. You simply post your photos relating to each category under the post on on the correct day so that others can enjoy your creations.

6 July – Most obedient (video clip, maximum 1 minute duration)

8 July – Happiest/smiliest dog (photo)

10 July – Dog-owner look alike (photo of dog and owner)

The categories are easy enough so that you don’t need a garden to take part. We will post a category every other day on . You simply post your photos relating to each category under the post on the correct day so that others can enjoy your creations.

13 July – Fruit & Veg

Any fruit or vegetables you have grown yourself or have seen growing and admired in someone else’s garden, a park or an allotment. Show us the most spectacular produce – tasty-looking, shiny, big, colourful! Something that stands out!

15 July – Creative food on a plate

Creative food designs on your plate. It must be something that you are going to eat! Can you make an animal out of fruit and veg? or arrange your fruit salad into a face on the plate? [See above]

17 July – Flowers in recycled materials

A flower or vase of flowers made out of recycled materials. Think newspaper flowers, toilet roll or drinks can vases, yoghurt lid leaves. Scour the recycling for ideas!

Please tell us who made the creation too, and their age if it’s a child. We won’t be giving out prizes but will be looking at all your entries and celebrating your creativity.

The theme this year is wider than the usual floral, to include wildlife, park life and garden life. This part of the show is being handled by two wonderful volunteers, Emily and Deborah.

19th July – artwork submitted is showcased on  @BPPArtExhibition on Facebook and Instagram and @BPPArtExhibit  on Twitter.

The work will be on sale – this is a wonderful opportunity to support artists at a difficult time in the arts world.

Please share all of this information far and wide so that as many people as possible take part in this year’s digital Flower Show! Forward this email to your friends and family, tweet about it, post about it etc etc.

We look forward to seeing your creations and seeing some sweet dogs!
