Tesco ‘Bags of Help’ scheme is expanding

Tesco’s Bags of Help scheme is changing! We are expanding to fund a wider range of projects – and you can now apply for a grant all year round.

APPLY FOR UP TO £5,000 FOR YOUR LOCAL GREEN SPACE

Tesco’s Bags of Help scheme is changing! We are expanding to fund a wider range of projects – and you can now apply for a grant all year round.

In order to give Tesco customers a regular say on where their money goes, the Bags of Help scheme will now be open all year round for applications from community organisations, with grants awarded on a monthly basis.

In addition, the money raised by the 5p bag charge in Tesco stores will now be opened up to a greater range of projects.

As always, the grants will support community participation in the development and use of open spaces. Projects that could now get the green light for funding will include: volunteer training, physical improvements of open spaces, equipment purchases, community events,
and sports and leisure activities.

Following each public vote, three projects in each Tesco region will receive a grant award, with first place receiving up to £5K, second place up to £2K and third place up to £1K.

Bags of Help is available to a wide range of community groups and organisations across England, Wales and Scotland and they can apply for grants to improve local green spaces. The scheme will fund physical improvement projects that will benefit the local community.

The new application and guidance notes, as well as further information can be found here.

If you require further support with your application or have any questions about the new scheme – don’t hesitate to get in touch with Alex Forrester  or drop Groundwork an email.
