At the recent Perry Vale Ward Assembly meeting the newly formed Friends of Dacres Wood were successful in their bid to win some money for pond enhancements on the site. For such a new group this is a fantastic achievement and everyone that went to the meeting should be very proud of themselves.
Dacres Wood is a small nature reserve beside the railway line between Forest Hill and Sydenham. Despite its name, a major nature conservation interest on the site lies in its ponds and wetlands, which are relics of the old Croydon Canal.

If you would like to be a part of the Friends group at Dacres Wood, please contact Lewisham’s Nature Conservation Officer who will put you in contact with them. The Nature’s Gym team are regulars at this site but there is always plenty more work to do and many ways in which you can get involved!
