Hither Green Community Planting Day

HGCA are inviting you to join the BIG Community Planting Day happening in Hither Green next Saturday!

They been awarded 200 edible hedging plants by The Woodland Trust and will need a small army to get them planted! They include crab apples, hazelnuts, and lots of berries, which will encourage local wildlife AND provide a great wild harvest for foragers in a few years time.

So if you have a spare hour, do join them – the more people the merrier!

They are meeting at 11am at the Platform 1 entrance of Hither Green Station on Springbank Road. MAP

Please wear sturdy shoes (or we can provide boots) and bring a trowel if you can.  We’ll provide everything else including refreshments.

Please email them if you have any questions.

Lewisham has over 80 Community Gardens providing a range of growing spaces within schools, community centres, businesses and housing areas.  Managing these gardens themselves offers a valuable opportunity for Lewisham residents to join together in not only growing food, but also in contributing skills such as managing volunteers, fundraising and committee roles.

If you are a keen grower, and are looking for a challenge, then a potential further growing site has been located within the grounds of MountsfieldPark with funding provided for basic infrastructure and set up costs.

At this stage we would like to gauge initial interest from residents who may, with some initial guidance and support, wish to set up and run a community food growing space in this area.

To register your initial interest in setting up/running a community garden in MountsfieldPark please email Katy Delaney. Alternatively, please fill out the form below.
